Daryl  McIntire


Daryl Creed McIntire was born west of Promise City, Ia., April 4, 1929 to Creed Charles McIntire and Rose Elizabeth Hayhurst McIntire. A brother and two sisters joined the family later.
Daryl attended North Salem Grade School and Promise City High School graduating in 1947. He worked at Case and J. D. until he and Dorothy Coleen Collins were married Sept. 12, 1948.
The couple farmed together until he joined the army Dec. 1, 1953. He served until November 1955. They resumed farming until 1980.
The couple had a son, Scott, born January 1957 and Daryl had the son he always wanted, and he was so proud of the person he grew up to be.
They farmed together until 1980 when Daryl and Dorothy moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas.
They enjoyed traveling mostly in the United States, Canada and Alaska. He liked hunting, fishing and sightseeing.
In 2010, they moved back to Centerville to be close to their family
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles McIntire and sisters, Phylis Kelleher and Eleanor McIntire.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jan McIntire; grandchildren, Emily, Cody and Haley and great-grandchildren, Quinn, Payton, Acey and Jaxxon.
Inurnment will be at a later date.
