Centerville, Iowa - Eleanor Moore, 94, of Centerville, passed away on December 31, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. Eleanor was born on August 23, 1925 in Exline, Iowa to W.R. and Addie (McWilliams) McElderry.
Eleanor graduated from Exline Community School and married Francis Moore on December 31, 1945 in Centerville. To this union, two children were born. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. Eleanor was employed by Iowa Southern Utility company for over 33 years until her retirement, her primary focus being billing and payroll.
In her spare time, Eleanor enjoyed spending time with family and traveling. She especially enjoyed visiting the Statue of Liberty in New York City and making a trip out to Washington D.C. She also enjoyed attending Grace Tabernacle Church in her earlier years and dining out.
Eleanor is survived by her son, Dennis Moore; daughter, Elaine (Jim) Murdy; grandchildren: Kevin Murdy, Ryan Moore, Derek (Megan) Moore, Shawn (Karen) Moore and Noah Moore as well as 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis; granddaughter, Stacy Blank and four siblings: Darwin McElderry, Marie Ellis, Jean Shinn and Evelyn Hall.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Thomas Funeral Home in Centerville with Pastor Dennis Higgins officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Hilltown Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will take place one hour prior to services from 10-11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to Grace Tabernacle Church or First Baptist Church and online condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com or facebook.com/thomasfuneralhome.
